The Hanlon Heading was a channel dredged from the west bank of the Colorado River, just north of the original heading # 1 to the Chaffey Headgate.  The bed was formed in a ‘V-Shape’ as an attempt to reduce silt buildup and reduce the clogging  that plagued the original heading.
