Note(s); Report on the Irrigation of Lands in California and Mexico from the Colorado River by James D Schuyler - 1906 p. 10 states that the Imperial / Alamo Canal  was dug for a distance of 7 miles between the Chaffey Headgate and where it connected to the Alamo Arroyos.  This appears to be an error as all other sources document it to be just under 4 miles.  After examining modern satellite imagery and measuring the distance, it was confirmed to be just under 4 miles in length, so the statement of '7 miles' from this source is absolutely incorrect.  Irrigation in Imperial Valley California Its Problems and Possibilities by C. E. Tait - 1908 p. 13 states that the length of the Imperial / Alamo Canal is 14 miles between the Chaffey Headgate and the head of the Alamo River.  This distance includes the first 4 miles of the canal an additional 10 miles through the Alamo Arroyos to the point at which enough Arroyos came together at what is considered the beginning of the Alamo River.  The image, dated 1901 is claimed as copyrighted but as of 2018, all copyrights prior to 1923 have expired.
